Explores the impact of 2023 fashion microtrends, uncovering the cultural, environmental, & personal costs they leave behind. The exhibit invites visitors to see how social media & fast fashion accelerate trend cycles, question the pressures of conformity & embrace, lasting personal style. The key takeaway is style is not defined by trends, & chasing microtrends leads to overconsumption. Embrace what makes you, you. In collaboration with two classmates in the design program.

Trend Timeline, spans the year of 2023, from GropeCore in January to Embellished Tailoring in December, showing how each fleeting trend emerges, dominates, & quickly fades. Capturing a culture in constant motion.
Influence Abyss, a dark room with flashing screens and endless voices from TikTok, Instagram, etc. Sensory overload mirrors the pressure of constant trend exposure, highlighting how social media fuels conformity & consumption.
Weight of Waste, statistics & graphics show the pressures of trend culture, including social pressure, stress, & loss of individuality, alongside the environmental impact of overconsumption & pollution.
Beyond the Trend, the journey ends in a calm, restorative space that celebrates individuality & intentional style. Mirrors & affirmations encourage self-expression, reminding visitors that authenticity endures long after trends fade.
